Cold Chain Logistics

Stable temperature windows for temperature-sensitive freight

PCM cold storage plates and insulated containers hold a defined temperature band through multi-leg transport, supporting food, pharmaceutical and chemical distribution.

The challenge

What makes temperature control difficult in this scenario

01

Excursions during transfer

Temperature-sensitive cargo is most at risk during loading, cross-docking and last-mile handover, when the refrigeration unit is off or doors are open.

02

Ice-based cooling is unstable

Conventional ice packs release cooling unevenly and can drop the cargo surface below the intended range, damaging freeze-sensitive goods.

Technical approach

How phase change material is applied here

1

Fixed melting point plates

PCM plates are formulated to a target melting point, so they hold the cargo space near that temperature instead of continuing to fall as with plain ice.

2

Configured for lane duration

Plate quantity, thickness and packaging are specified against the measured duration and ambient profile of each transport lane.
